NEWS – Sounds Of The Season, Summer 2018, Song Of The Week, Riverdale Share & Horseshoe Tavern 70th Anniversary

Summer 2018 is already shaping up to be fantastic, as the band is already booked to perform with Marianas Trench & Virginia To Vegas in Timmins, Ontario at the Stars And Thunder Festival.  It’s an entire week of incredible acts. Tickets go on sale next Thursday November 16th and you’ll be able to buy them here. The JTB performs on Tuesday June 26th.

Julian Taylor Band | Stars & Thunder FestivalSONG OF THE WEEK – CBC’s HERE & NOW – Lovesick Fool

Big love to everyone at ‘Here & Now’ on CBC Radio 1 in Toronto for adding ‘Lovesick Fool’ as the Song Of The Week this week. Julian was interviewed by Gill Deacon on last Monday. You can hear the interview in the SoundCloud widget below:

The band will be the house band for the ‘Here & Now’ segment of the annual CBC Radio ‘Sounds Of The Season’ fundraiser and live broadcast on Friday December 1st. We’ll be playing with the amazing reggae artist Exco Levi, and we’ll be joined by members of the Nathaniel Dette Chorale for ‘Give Us A Sign’. The whole day is always great radio – to catch us tune in between 3pm and 6pm on CBC Radio 1.

Julian will be performing at this year’s Riverdale Share Concert. This is a fantastic show at the Danforth Music Hall that raises money to support worthy initiatives in the Riverdale neighbourhood of Toronto. You can buy tickets here. Here’s a clip of Julian performing at last year’s concert.

The band will be performing at our musical home on Thursday December 21st to celebrate the best live music club in the world. There are few places with the tradition and history of the ‘shoe – and it will be a thrill to be part of this incredible milestone. We’ll be joined by our friends in Kasador, who will be opening the show.

DIGITAL 45 | Give Us A Sign & Lovesick Fool

Two new tunes to share with the world! Co-written by Julian with Tyler Ellis and Robert Priest, these two songs were recorded live at Canterbury Sound to two inch tape in late August. Big love to CBC Radio for their early support!

OTTAWA – Thursday October 26th | National Arts Centre

We’re coming back to our home away from home to perform in the National Arts Centre Studio Theatre on Thursday. Last time we checked there were still some tickets available. This show will feature an opening acoustic set, with a full band set to follow a short intermission.

CORBYVILLE – Saturday October 28th | Signal Brewery

Our friend Chris Loane has been presenting some fantastic acts at Signal Brewery in Corbyville. Still some tickets available for this Hallowe’en Party featuring us. If you’re in the Belleville area, we’d love to see you on Saturday night!

What a thrill it was to return to Aeolian Hall last Thursday. There are venues, and then there are places that seem to inspire us to put our best foot forward. The volunteers made sure we were well looked after, and Chris Babin does an incredible job with the sound. We debuted our acoustic opening set – more photos and notes coming.

Tonight a few of us are off to the annual Folk Music Ontario conference to hang out and play a few tunes.

Live At Lee’s Palace – One Year of Desert Star

Desert Star was released one year ago today. It’s been a great year for the band. To commemorate the occasion here’s a collection of songs recorded at our album release party at Lee’s Palace on October 7th, 2016. We played with two great bands: Ann Vriend and Freeman Dre & The Kitchen Party. The recording was recorded, mixed and mastered by Ross Citrullo.

Julian Taylor Band - SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival

‘Live Music Is Better!’ – JT has been shouting this from the stage at every show on the summer tour so far, and every audience has enthusiastically agreed. Here I’ll offer a quick re-cap of our shows so far.

June 18: Markham Village Music Festival: Taking Flight & Volume Wars

The first show of our summer tour was in Markham, Ontario. We’d originally planned to perform as a smaller configuration but figured what the heck – it’s local, and what’s more fun than the full 8 piece band? Nothing, that’s what. We all managed to squeeze our cars in to the lot directly behind the stage, and we played as the sun set. The stage was small, but we’ve definitely played on smaller. There was another stage set-up no more than 100ft away with a band going full tilt. We decided to save ‘Carry Me Home’ until after they were done – we soldiered through but it was a little weird having that much volume so close!

Big thanks to everyone who has helped get the band on the road this spring and summer. Without the support of the Ontario Media Development Corporation, Canada Council For The Arts, Cameron’s Brewing, All Natural Music, the amazing people at our label Aporia, D’Addario this tour wouldn’t have been possible. And a big high-five to our crew who make our lives easier on the road and deliver us safely to and from each show.
